There are multiple ways to help your child improve their math skills outside the classroom, including:

But the best — and key — method of all is consistent engagement, which just so happens to be our strong suit at Savvy.

So how do we maintain consistent engagement?

The daily nature of the lessons keeps children learning, but the dynamic environment keeps them interested.
Try it out yourself — and watch your learner soar above and beyond.

How do you improve math skills for children? That’s a question many parents have. Learning math can either be fun or challenging depending on the method and material used by the teacher. Here are some ways you can make the process easier for kids:

  • Show your work as you work through each problem. Mastering steps one at a time can help children learn in tangible steps to tackle the problem.
  • Create real world problems that your children can relate to. Try to incorporate their friends or activities to make math problems more fun and engaging.
  • Mastery of formulas and techniques often requires repetition. Practice math skills daily until it comes naturally to them and they don’t have difficulty recalling steps.
  • Try to cover a new math concept each day with your child. This will keep things fresh while exposing them to new ideas.
  • Push your child to practice mental math techniques where practical. This can help with speed and retention.

Many students struggle to pick up math as quickly as their peers. Thankfully there are some methods available to help you overcome your struggles and improve math skills.

  • Practice math facts/mental math with flashcards or games. Memorization can solidify learning concepts and help with recollection.
  • Play games that use familiar math concepts. Making learning fun can create confidence in your students and give them tangible learning examples.
  • Discuss math in common situations to get them used to everyday practice. It is essential for them to understand that they will use some of these tactics in everyday life going forward.
